Almost as exciting as listening to music is reading about it. It gets me that much more excited about a song when you read about how it come together. You listen to a song, then you HEAR about the making of it and the second listen is like you are discovering something you couldn’t hear the first time round. I hear about all these artist collaborations at the moment and I can’t help but get taken by the hype. People I had never dreamt of listening to before are now being presented to me through guest pieces on new albums and it’s like “How have I not heard of these people?” For example, Daft Punk’s new one features a whole swag of brilliant musicians that were unbeknownst to me, paul williams, nile rodgers, giorgio moroder etc etc. These guys have been doing it for years and are solid! They make the whole experience not just another album but an absolute masterpiece. THEN you get to The new Queens of the Stone Age album, and my head almost explodes! I have had to stop myself from listening to the songs that are being leaked because I feel that forgetting what I’ve heard for the moment and listening to “…Like Clockwork” in full, like I did “Random Access Memories” will make the whole experience (the amazing songs running a soundtrack to a FUCKING mini movie!) that much more rewarding. I may never recover the pieces of brain when it explodes come June, but im willing to die happy if it were to happen. These 2 examples are making my 2013 more enjoyable by the day. Thank the sweet gods who make this possible every day!
For all the artists out there. xoxo
I agree with Natasha! Make stuff even if it HURTS! <3

Yes, this guy plays drums, too! Dave Grohl didn’t always have the most accurate timing (the tempo to “Smells Like Teen Spirit” slips around) or the most nuance (he still totally slams on power ballads) ̬ but that’s precisely the point. Just as Nirvana’s unexpected Billboard triumph was a victory for the unpolished, Grohl’s arms-overhead bashing was a sign that emotion, feeling, and sweat took priority over pulling off that paradiddle…
